Default What will lower my 60ft times, suspension kits ?

Im looking into a BMR stage 1 rear suspension package. My car is a 98 camaro, 6 speed, 3:42's, ls6 swap with lt's, full exhaust, slp lid and a tune. Its definatly healthy, I went 12.9 @ 111 on drag radials, 17" wheels, 275 mickey thompsons, nearly new. I run at one of the fastest tracks in the northwest, mission raceway, its at sea level. Heres the real killer, my 60ft on that run was 2.2 seconds. Im new to drag racing, and launching is killing me. I like to ride the clutch a bit into it from 4500 or so, Ride it to get it going then let go. Im not big on 6 grand clutch drops. If i get one of those BMR kits, will my 60ft times go down significantly ? Honestly from what ive been told this car should be capable of 1.9 second 60's...maybe even 1.8's. I dont know if im 100% to blame, or the car getting no traction is. That 12.9 was with a terrible shifting trans, hopefully my new tick master will fix that, should be arriving soon. Id appreciate any insight on launching this thing ! Thanks

if your on mickey thompson's the car is getting traction, plain and simple, they dont spin doing what your doing. Are you on a stock rear end? My car with full bolt ons, stock gears and nittos was in the low 8.5X in the 1/8 (sorry no 1/4 miles around me) on a 1.8-1.9 60ft. 4500 seems a little bit too high cuz of all the time you ahve to spend riding the clutch 3000 is where i used to come out and it let me get off the clutch and in the gas pretty quick.

Idk if youll get different opinions on launching but i know that worked for me.

to get the 60fts down, stiffen up the rear suspension a little bit, LCA brackets and a good burnout are the general recomended things to help get the 60fts down.

IDK exactly what comes in the BMR kit one, but stay away from lowering springs and just keep practicing

The Level 1 Drag Package is a well-balanced package perfect for a street/strip car. We developed this package for those that regularly street drive their cars but also like to frequent the drag strip. The beauty of the kit is that it doesn't compromise ride quality at all and we have had customers dip into the 9's with this package so you can "grow into it".

The only other mod I might consider if you drag race it frequently would be a torque arm relocation crossmember to pull the torque arm load off the transmission.

Too many variables to give a def. answer. Anything from driver, track conditions, tires , etc effect your 60 ft times. In my case, it's the driver!

With your power level and mph, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to cut 1.7-1.8 60 ft/times using our kit with drag radials. Do a good burnout and practice your launch techniques and your 60's will improve!

It seems your stock rear might be on living on a prayer if you're launching from 4.5k! What kind of clutch are you using also?
