what brand shocks ?
I never encountered a 'final' looseness. Everything always 'pinched' well.

I'll be taking my Konis back out to install my new springs soon. I don't remember having a problem with anything not getting tight.

I'd like to know as well

front is a little bit longer process but by no means hard. Just make sure that when you get the shock/spring assembly back together you compress the spring enough so that there is no play in the upper mount. In other words tighten the top nut or you will get the clunking sound when you go over your first bump.
