heater hose mod work for front?

OP, the hose mod is for rear only. You need the upper rubber insulators to locate the front spring whereas with the rear springs, guys have lowered the rear by getting rid of the upper rubber isolators. To prevent metal to metal contact between the spring and the body, hd hose is threaded over the top coil or two.
If you want to lower the front, ideally lowering springs should do it. That being said, some have cut the stock springs to lower as well. Do a search as there are issues you need to be aware of before doing the latter...

I still use the factory "doughnut" rubber isolators for the rear shocks, but I cheated cuz I bought the Ground Control Coilover setup where I can raise and lower all 4 corners...it was time consuming at the time but hey, once I set it up, I have the perfect ride height that I wanted AND still keep the rear isolators for added comfort and less chance of the springs making noises due to them inadvertently rubbing against the underside of the car.

What I did on my 96 Z28 was to clamp one section of my rear springs with those clamps from the parts store that you can raise or lower you car springs with. it sat the rear down about 2 inches and made the car level, also closed up some of that wheel gap.

This doesn't sound safe. How is the ride quality with clamping down your springs??
