Default Rear end shift

Alright so I just got my car towed home from the track. I have a MWC rear end, spohn PHB and control arms, and the MWC long torque arm. I made a pass and messed up and went 1st 2nd 3rd 2nd and then the driverside tire started rubbing. I got a crescent wrench and shifted the rear end so I had a little gap on each side. I start driving home and hear something clank but im hoping to just limp it home. About a mile away I notice burning rubber smell so I pull over and the other side is now rubbing. So at this point I tow it home. I took the PHB off and it looks fine. Bushings look good but I just started wondering if maybe one of the metal inserts in the bushing got cocked against the opening in the tab of the body or rear end or something and caused the rear end to shift then when i started driving home it straightened out maybe? Does that make sense? Im gonna try to reinstall it and adjust it and see if it goes away but does anyone have any other ideas?

Check the bolts on the PHB upper support(driver side & passenger side), and check the PHB body mount assembly(passenger side) and make sure it has no play in it, and no cracks/stress fractures where it mounts to the chassis. It also would hurt to check the top & bottom TA mounts to make sure it's still all tight, and also go over the LCAs.

Thanks for the reply. Im gonna do some more checking tomorrow. I'll check that stuff tomorrow. If everything looks good I'll throw it all back together and see if it straightened itself back out

Where exactly is the tire rubbing? Is it on the inside of the tire?

Yes. At the front of the wheel on the inside where the metal comes together at the bottom of the car. I've banged it inward a little before to gain clearance. I'm thinking its the LCAs. Im gonna have a friend watch the wheel while I move it foreward and backwards and see if it shifts front to back

Alright well it looks like the front mounting point on the LCA's are slightly elongated but I can just see where they shifted but not really how. The bushings just have a slight wobble to them. Is there supposed to be 0 play between the metal insert and the poly bushing around it? Also I noticed one didn't have a whole lot of grease compared to the other 3 bushings. Would this account for some play as well?

That sounds like part of the problem, but not all of it.

It sounds like more of a lower control arm deal to me more than anything else. What kind of carrier do you have in the rear end and do you your lower control arms have polyurethane bushings or rod ends?

Well I replaced all the poly bushings and I've driven it a little ways with no rubbing, but it seems like there is still a light shift. Maybe 1/4" front to back but only when I take off quickly from a stop. I'm thinking about just switching to rod end control arms and pan hard bar. Do you think this is the best route or should I be looking at something else?

Didn't you say your control arm mount holes are out of round?

No the holes themselves look good but you could see where the old bushings were shifting some on the mounting locations. Like the grease marks on the body were elongated showing the bushings were shifting some
