Is it safe to use Mobil 1 synthetic greae on caliper sliding pins ????

Default Is it safe to use Mobil 1 synthetic grease on caliper sliding pins ????

I need to lube the caliper push pins and all i have right now its Mobil 1 synthetic grease. Would that be good ??

As long as you wernt as liberal as John Kerry and just put a dab on the friction points..... I wouldnt see a problem with that.

I think they key is to use grease that is rated for high temperatures. I bought a small tub that said it was for disc brakes & high temps, I forget the brand.

Its a pad guided caliper (that the abutement slides on 'pinch-bolts')... if it doesnt work freely, it can have a few associated symptoms. Most common is uneven pad wear or taper, vibration and noise.

Or, they sieze in the bore and you get to replace the PAB and sliders ($80-100).

Get synthetic caliper lube at the parts store and re-lube them (at least that's what I'd do).

The dealer wanted $115 for the front PAB when it happened to me.

But I was lucky to find a generous ls1tech member that had an extra one.

Follow trackbird's advice and lube them.

You can get a small packet for $1 at autozone. Why take chance?
