LG Sway Bars vs Strano Sway Bars
I have the chance to buy some LG sway bars for a good price. I was originally going to buy the Stano bars before this deal came up. I can get the LG's for about $100 less than the Strano.
Which ones should I go with?
I don't race the car at all, is a sunny day cruiser on the back roads and that's really it.
I'm just worried that the LG's aren't much larger than the stock ones but then again Lou really know's his stuff.

def. talk to both companies. i've only talked to sam so im biased. his service over the phone, and time taken with me about my setup shows that he wants everything he sells to work as a package.

agreed ^^^^ he hasnt won all those championships for nothing. he has to know what he's talking about. i talked to him on the phone and he is very knowledgeable about everything he sells, and i will be purchasing off of him in the next month or so.

Are the LG sway bars hollow? I'm kind biased since I have Sam's bars on my car... Another question, what size bars does your car currently have? If it has the 32/19 (hollow front/solid rear), then I wouldn't spend the money for an extra .5 mm diameter for the front bar. It may even be more rear bar for the front going with that combo, but that's just me thinking out loud...

I have some Lg componets but mostly everything on my suspension has come from Sam, konis, front and back bars, clutch, I'll pretty much buy anything I can through him B/c his prices are competitive and his advice is priceless. you can ask him about LGs bars but ive heard they look a little bit like stock gm bars( wink).

I have had both sets of bars on my car. I seemed to notice a bigger difference between the LG's and stock than the LG's and Sam's.
But I still suggest going with Sam's. I think they are better.
But it also depends on your finacial situation. If you really want to save the $100 and the car wolnt get any autoX or road racing use then the LG's will probaly suit you just fine.

First of all, all SS's, WS6's, and 1LE's come with a 32mm bar on them from the factory. So if you have one of those cars, you aren't upgrading the front bar at all. If you have a standard V-8 bar, which is 30mm, you do see a change in stiffness of about 23%. If you go from 30 to 35, that goes up to about 46% stiffer than stock.
In the back, you'll notice I use a similar size bar, but I team it with a larger front bar. Bilstein Ultra Suspension cars came with a setup like this. Cars that have won multiple SCCA T2 class National Championships use a setup like this. I use a setup like this on my car too.
21mm rear with a 30 or 32mm front is, in my opinion to stiff when compared to the front. I know, I know someone will say "but 1LE!". Those folks don't know the details about what they are talking about. There was one year 1LE that had a 32/21 combo. It also had different springs, which changes the wheel rate.
The 32 alone is fine. The 21 is fine with a bigger front bar. You won't kill yourself (most likely) with the pair. You just won't have as much roll stiffness in the front. The front is the heavy end. It's the end you feel and react to most. It's the end that gains and loses tire contact patch due to camber curve.

I went with an ST front 35mm solid bar and a rear 21mm solid bar from an 84Z28. I absolutely LOVE IT! The 21mm rear really works well with the 35mm front. I was running the 19mm rear bar for awhile and noticed a definite different when I installed the rear 21mm bar. Obviously the front bar is heavy as hell but I don't mind. I paid $205 shipped for everything and that includes poly bushings and endlinks front and rear and a can of black paint for the old rear bar.

Good for you.... The only downsides are you added about 16 pounds to the car vs. stock and about 20 vs. a set of my bars (which save you about 5 vs. stock). And realistically, most folks won't find such a deal.

Right now I'm running a stock 30mm front and an SLP 21mm bar out back. Definitely much much better than the 24mm third gen WS6 bar I had on there before. This would be obvious, but I didn't have much choice in the way that all worked out. Anyways, the softer rear bar made a big difference, but the car still feels too tight in the rear (when compared to the front). I'll be calling Sam soon to get his 35mm front bar. I'll probably install that when I install my Strano springs and C5 brakes

In fact, I just called about an hour ago and his mother picked up the phone and took my order! It was 6pm central time, or 7pm their time. Amazing! I'm glad she's doing better, I hadn't noticed you posting any updates about her on here. Looks like my 35mm front bar will be here by the weekend

for some reason i thought my 1999 SS came with a front bar that was smaller than 32mm (didn't put enough effort into search and went with the first misinformed post)... so i went ahead and ordered a Spohn 4140 chrome moly 32mm solid bar
was that a complete waste? did i just pay $140+ for an extra 16lb and a bushing upgrade?
because of the material, i'm thinking the Spohn bar is going to be at least noticeably stiffer even if i used the 8 year old bushings.

Well, you also added about 10 pounds to the car, as well as got new bushings. Solid is a little stiffer than a thin walled hollow, but not like Chrome-Moly has no more twisting resistance than does mild steel. It's got greater tensile and compressive strength, which is why you can use thinner tubing and save weight. But here the bars are solid. Basically, it's worthless to make a bar from CM, and FWIW, we won't because CM is a more brittle and something that's meant to twist (like swaybars do) that's not ideal.
