Hawk HPS vs Hawk ceramic?
Time for brakes for the SS & I've read the sticky. I have 2 friends with the ceramic's and they seem to like them. I thought the ceramic were more for road racing and needed to be hot before they worked good. Anyway............
I need brakes. Looking at the WS6 store and getting slotted/cross drilled rotors. (driveway jewelry) Need to make a decision on the pads. I don't autocross. It's a daily driver with track time. Biggest complaint about the GM pads is the dust on my chrome rims.
I want
1. NO NOISE!
2. Low to no dust
3. Breaking equal to or better than stock
4. Did I mention No Noise.
What's a better pad for me HPS or ceramic?

I have not used either of those pads, but I've heard the HPS's dust a decent amount. I imagine the ceramics should be be better than the HPS, but I've heard they still leave some dust. I don't know if you're going to find a pad that doesn't dust at all. I wipe my wheels down every time I park the car back at home for the night.
I'm running Stillen's Metalmatrix pads right now all around, and I haven't pushed them hard enough to see how they react with more pedal pressure, but they are very quiet so far. Seem to work better once they warm up, but by no means are they scary when cold. They do dust quite a bit though. Definitely more than the Duralast pads I had on the car with the stock brakes.

It's always a proportional line; the better stopping, the more dusting. I'm running HPS and they do dust, especially at higher speeds (makes sense, trying to stop from 90mph +). However they have ZERO noise. And the dusting is not atrocious (like say a carbotech panther pad), just have to keep up on the front rims is all. Normal driving I only have to clean the rims every couple fo days; hard driving or autox (and drag race, top end stopping) they get dirty real quick.
I have not driven nor have any experience with ceramic pads.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't a slotted rotor cause more dust since it's "scraping" the pads? I have the HPS pads, and they've never made a noise on me. Yeah they dust more than the EBC Greenstuffs I had on before, but they stop better.
