Default Rear is Wandering at highway speed.

Yes I did a search and came up with alot of different reasoning. I put some BFG G-force ( not KDW's) on stock rims. Now my car wanders on the interstate ever so slightly, but its definately touchy. It feels likes its all in the Rear. Anyone else have this tire and problem? Its not the front end, just suggestions for rear problems. I do have some squicky bushings in rear. Whats the best way to check bushings? The car has 27K on her.

ADD: The Wandering is very slight, If I push on the car side to side, the panhard bar seems to be fine.

Check your tire pressures. Most companies over inflate the tires when they mount them.

Put them around 28-32 psi. Over-inflation leads to a bulging center and the tire rides on a smaller contact patch in the center of the tread.....pulling down the pressures will even out the contact patch making it more stable.

Well, I checked the tire pressures. Turns out they where all at 26 psi. The didnt even look low, I mounted them myself this summer but the colder weather seems to have played a part. It took 38psi to drive correctly but it did fix this problem. Thanks for the Idea. I just kept telling myself they didnt look low at all, but they obviously were.

Edit: This is my 3rd Camaro, never had one wander on me. These BFG's ( the $140 a piece ones) must have some weak side walls.

38psi sounds too high. What tires (and size) do you have?

That's the same size as mine (although I have F1 GS D3). I run 31psi.

I should have gotten the G-Force KDW's. I guess these side walls in these sports just aren't as strong. Its does drive much better with more psi.

I would question the health of your shocks as well. High psi can be a band-aid for worn dampers and is actually bad for dry grip. A softer tire than you had could also be part of the cause.

If they are the origainal shocks, then they are the problem. I replaced mine at 30k and the rear shocks helped alot. 3rd gen rear bilsteins might cure the prob.

Now why Third gen? and where could a man find the ones your talking about? The car rides great. There is that squeaking creeking sound sometimes. I put a GM torque arm mount on and now about to change trans mount. All that could be a factor right?
