I don't know about performance gains on the K-member alone because I did several other things at the same time. It is great for header clearance and really opens up the bottom side of the engine making things like plugs MUCH easier!

I did not. But if you're sophisticated and tuning suspension to
launch it gets 40 pounds off the nose. If you're lowered and
on street tires, forget about any bonus besides straight weight
reduction (for which pounds, this price is pretty high).

It also makes the front of the car "floppier", at least it did on
mine. Just not as large a cross-section for that lonely hollow
tube, as the factory weldment.
