I was cruising around in my car this weekend and decided to launch it from a stoplight. I launched it, and the tires spun (not normal for the amount of throttle i gave it) and I heard a funny banging sound, I got home, and the damn bracket had let go on the swaybar! I didnt think these things had any real load on them, what gives?
BMR has some sick looking new billet ones but they are only sold as a set which includes everything but the bar for 185..

It's common. I've done it. A broken front swaybar bracket causes drastically ill effects on rear traction and just messes up the whole car's handling.
I bought stock swaybar bracket replacements and had them boxed. Problem solved.

On my '89 Formula Firebird. I went to the dealer and bought the front "straps" (like what you broke) 8 at a time. I used to break them on the front of that car all the time. It's not common, but it does happen.
The upgraded ones you mentioned on frrax are actually the front "bases" that the part shown bolts to. They are known to crack on the front of a 4th gen. It's not the part shown for the rear (just wanted to clarify).
