replacing Koni rear shock with another shock, suggestions needed
I have Koni's up front and i think my rear konis are shot, i don't want to replace the rear konis with another set of konis since they will be run on the softest setting so i wont be getting good use out of them. What shocks should i replace them with? Bilsteins or KYB's, which shock has a softer setting out of the two? The car is a daily driver that gets taken to the track occasionaly

You are not just paying for the adjustment. Valving will be different from shock to shock. So a Koni in the softest setting may still have higher valving than bilsteins or KYB. I think in order to really get a comparable performing shock you need to see the shock dyno graph for each and compare side by side. Unfortunatlly I rarelly see that kind of info floating around the internet, even from the manufacturer.

I would call koni and just explain to them the situation. Shocks shot.. lost receipt.. blah blah blah.. as long as your the original owner than you may be able to get them to rebuild or warranty them for free.
Or if youre the original owner.. call the shop you bought them from. they may have your receipt stored somewhere.

the shocks don't adjust anymore it's like the adjuster is stuck. Komi said they could have possibly bottomed out and caused the rod inside to bend. They offered to sell me them at 268 for the pair.

And where did you buy them from? If you bought from a vendor they should have kept your receipt and can give you a copy.

When I lowered my car and put Koni’s on I thought it road too stiff in the rear too, even on the soft setting. Then I installed relo brackets to correct the lca angle after lowering. What a difference, like a different car, It rides soo much smoother now and has better traction at the strip. Maybe it was a binding issue, I don’t know, but it feels most excellent now. Maybe your car is having the same issue.
