(1) to get attention from the world

(2) to advertise their products to other countries looking to purchase nukes

We have enough air and naval power to shoot anything down aimed at us flying over the Pacific ocean. Nuking South Korea is not really an option for them either because B2's would turn N. Korea into a sheet of glass before they could get a 2nd nuke off the launch pad.

'Mutually Assured Destruction'

essentially means that you ensure your own safety buy letting the other guy know that you can no longer threaten me with your big red button, because i have a big red button too... and if you use your big red button, i'll use mine, and we'll both be fucked.

I don't know... I wouldn't really worry about North Korea going nuclear on the U.S. because I don't think they're thatttt stupid. I'd be more worried about them selling nuclear weapons to terrorist organizations and them attempting to use it against us or trying to sneak them into the country.

It's less of an argument if you have a maniac running the country - Kim Jong Mentally-Ill.

That's certainly a very valid concern.

I think Kim Jong Ill IS that stupid!!! He's been a bully against his own people and they nearly consider him a god over there. Another thing brought up in the news tonight (old news to some military people) is that N.Korea and Iran are on a very (key music) SIMILAR path towards their arms races. While Iran has been focusing on solid-propellant rockets, N.Korea is favoring the liquid gas propellants. It was discussed 2 years ago that the nuke N.Korea 'tested' might not have even been theirs (can you say Irans little secret?) It makes sense that the two are collaborating and why not in that area also?

N-Korea dosnt have a delivery capability to really threaten us.... but S-Korea, and Japan... different story. I agree with what was said earlier, I think we still have sufficent capability to intercept anything they shoot... but an airbursted Nuke larger then anything we have ever seen used (what they are testing now) is still not pretty.

i dont think we'll see a nuclear device used in combat in our lifetimes. not even that kook armadinijhad from Iran will use them, even though he's stated that israel should be wiped off the face of the map. Iran has too much to lose because israel has waaaaay more nukes than they do. again... mutually assured destruction keeps them from doing it.

north korea... what incentive do they have to attack south korea or japan? again, north korea knows that the US is watching them VERY closely, as we dubbed them as part of the 'axis of evil'. them developing and then showing off their nukes is just a way of them saying 'dont **** with us'.

When I see all this, I really think Dec 21, 2012 is the last day on Earth.

I think the recent actions of N. Korea is to help kim's son gain power once he's gone.

I think they are planning on nuking someone....
or at least use the fact that they have nukes to get something they want.. well attempt to ..

Overall, they are all ***** and we need to get rid of that whole government.

maybe they will launch at us.... we will shoot it down, then ask them if they want to talk.. LOL...

He's go 3 sons and the youngest is being dubbed the most likely successor sinc e they just anointed him as the "Brilliant Comrade".

As far as them nuking someone, i don't think they'll waste the nuke until the delivery system works. So far they're just doing ground testing (Los Alamos style)
