If people know how to use the right lane as a passing lane only and not get distracted w/ cell phones, raising the speed limit to 85 should be safe. Europeans drive that fast and even faster to 90 all the time here. If you get caught driving slow in a pass lane, the driver either get flashed w/ high beams behind them or a honk or get a ticket/fine from a cop.

hmmm, I've always wondered why people drive really slow on the left lane. I thought the left lane was use as a passing lane.

I don't see it passing, if it did would only be on the highways outside city limits.

There is actually some speed limits at 75 on i35 going to laredo from SA. I10 has speed limit at 80 starting in the Kerville area going west. So I dont think an extra 10mph on some highways would hurt that much since everybody is speeding as it is anyways.

I wish it would pass. Just because the limit is say 80 doesn't mean you have to drive 80. People can still drive 70 or whatever if they feel safer, just stay out of the passing lane.

I heard about this on the news last week, they were saying that 85 speed limit would only be put on new freeways, not existing ones, and not near any heavy populated areas...

yeah, not gonna happen. and people driving the speed limit or slower on passing lanes actually are usually self righteous **** faces who believe they are making the roads safer by keeping the passing lane just a regular lane of traffic. i know this, ive read articles online that were surveys on how people drive on the highway.

so what i do is turn the lane directly next to them into mexico and give them an earfull. LMAO

in order to be put on a existing one it has to have a study done to it to prove it's safe at those speeds, but yes it can go on old highways as well as new one's.
