RIP SSgt Smith
SSgt Jeremy Smith, 26, of Arlington
http://www.pgrtexas.org/North%20Texa...l-12-Smith.htm
he was with 1/23 "The Lone Star Battalion" Alpha Co. There are a handful of LS1tech members deployed with them right now
when I returned home to TX, he and I checked into 1/23 at the same time - shared a hotel room and went through the check-in process. In the Marine Corps, when you check into a new unit, you show up in Service Alpha uniform (the green suit). I had just been promoted to LCpl two days before and hadn't yet sewn the new chevrons onto any of my uniforms. Being the stellar Marine he was, Jeremy had extras and we scoured the WalMart on I-45 south looking for the right color thread at 2am. We both looked sharp the next morning but we were so tired, we were having to elbow each other in the ribs to stay awake in front of the CO's office...
rest easy my friend, we'll take it from here
