Main bearings?
I was driving back to work from lunch today when i noticed a knocking sound coming from the engine. Within 30 seconds it got worse. Oil pressure looked good untill i gave it some gas and it dropped to 0. When i let off the gas it came back to 35ish. Does this sounds like some bearings are trashed?

Well i limped her home...oil pressure dropped to 20 psi idle and cruising. Its knocking like a diesel now as well. I pulled the dip stick and it the oil looked a little sparkly. What would be a fair asking price for a 99 TA with a bad motor? 6 speed t-tops 116k miles.

I just love the question and answers. Good asking offer is about $500, I'll go to $750, but not a penny more. As for the condition, it better be in tip top condition. I mean no rips, tears, or rust.
One mans treasure, is another man's junk. Just giving you a hard time about your car. Personally, I'd fix it and keep it, those are getting harder and harder to find in any shape other than junk yard bound.

Lol everyone wants something for cheap. The car is actually pretty clean..not perfect but still nice. When i told my friends i was selling it they told me I'm a dumbass and the car is to nice not to fix. I'll probably be looking for a lq4 or lq9 short block here pretty soon.

I'm not trying to buy what basically is a 13 year old Pontiac. He asked a question and I gave him a legit answer. I didn't know a blown motor firebird and who knows what else is wrong with it would pull a premium.

Yank the motor, have it rebuilt, maybe even put a cam in while your at it and have fun. Won't be super expensive, not like you trashed the block by sending a rod though it. Could even do a forged 347, there's one on here for sale for 1300$ ready to go, off the shelf cam and come out with a car making a lot more than it did. Could even reuse your stock heads after you have them freshened up or pick up some basic CNC'd heads form TSP, 3500ish max and you could have a really solid combo. Even with a basic rebuild, if you did labor your self, you can still sell it when your done and be better off then selling it for $500.

I never insinuated a premium, but a basically unmolested f-body that needs a rebuilt motor (that is a complete motor) for $500 is not a legit answer, thats low-balling thievery.

You can knock it for its age all you want, you and I and everyone on this forum know that the T56 alone by itself is worth way more than $500. He could get at least 2k for it. Hell ive seen tore up (as in rolled a few times) Ls1 pontiacs pull 3k on this forum recently.

500 is just bs, op imo fix it, truck blocks are easy to come by and are cheap,my motor needs to be pulled this winter, trust me you can fix it on a budget with out getting crazy, and like what was all ready said you can build a solid combo and really love the car, i know when things like this pop off its hard not to just wanna sell it, but keep it, why do you think clean rollers sell so fast,if its almost all there, it is nothing to buy a roller for 2 grand ,buy a 408 slap it in there and you have a pretty stout car for way under what you should have bought it for
