Those DOHC engines only rev to 6250 rpm? Look at that HP curve climbing, where is the rpm at?

I believe the new 5.8l will rev to 7000 RPM....2013's should make 800rwhp with that setup

I have an offroad x and I think that makes the difference. The 710 is SAE, so it actually made more cause of the great weather we had today.

It would have made 730 by taking it to 6500, but it would not be safe. I am stoked about the power and it's good enough for now. Right now it's safe, so I'll leave it. Now to work on the suspension.

Thanks G-Force. You guys always do it up right.

Yeah, FORD doesn't recommend reving it higher than 6250... my guess is the rods. We can take it to 6500, but I am not trying to wring every last ounce of power out of it. I am very happy with the results. Next year I'll try some big boost and race gas and see if we can get ~800-ish

I think they do that to keep the rods in 1 piece. Could be wrong. Tq curve is awesome on that thing for playing around on the street, but I'd take a centri or turbo any day for racing.

So, the old technology pushrod LS7 that revs to 7000 rpm with more cubes.... can out-rev a modern day DOHC Cobra engine? This is news to me. The main benefit of an OHC setup is the ability to handle higher (like 10,000) rpm with minimal valvetrain components.

Sure would be nice to see Ford build a production Mustang mod-motor that can rev to 8K from the factory, otherwise pushrods are still viable.

not sure if they are manley or not like the 03-04 termi but they are much smaller . There was a picture comparing the two posted a while back.

The motor just is not as strong as the as the older bullet proof 03-04 motors.

But the 5.8L should be the game changer. Now we need Chevy to step it up and give us a lighter Camaro with the LSA Engine pumped up!

Come on 2014!

Terminators FTW once again lol. And Tony the Boss Mustang has a 7500rpm factory red line with valve train stable to 8400.

More power would be cool, but for a dedicated street car, this is actually more than enough. I'm trying to stay away from drag racing.... but it is VERY hard.

Great #'s the most I could get out of my 2011 GT500 was 695WHP with (whipple 2.9, long tubes, X pipe & mono blade TB @ 16psi..Jon Lund tune) .... I love the 5.4 even if the piston speed is faster than the speed of sound lol!
