Place to clean TQ converter in Dallas? Anyone have some good at home ideas?
My 3-4 clutches went on my 4L60 so the fluid is real dirty and you can see the metallic dust in it. I have let it drain for 5 days.
I tried pouring fluid in and rinsing it out but it doesn't seem to work to well. I have thought about cleaning it with a solvent then rinsing it with fresh fluid. Anyone know if that will harm it? I have cleaned clutches and bearings before with solvents with no issues so I would assume this would be okay...?

And I plan to change the fluid and filter shortly after the install regardless.
I hear ya about the solvents, I am a bit concerned also, although I have brake cleaned many many flywheels, clutch plates, brake pads etc to clean off any oils or contaminants that may have gotten on them during installation or servicing them so I doubt that the brake clean would hurt the clutch but as far as other types of solvents I don't know. Maybe someone can verify.

Since I have posted this I have gotten some info on local converter places that can do the cut and clean though and save quite a bit of money that way. One of them is 2 miles from my house.
I want to send it to Yank but an extra $100 for shipping, a slightly higher fee to do the work, then adding 2-3 weeks wait time instead of a day or two is really making me want to just find a local shop to do it.
