Red light camera tickets are not a criminal offense so they can not be treated as such. They are civil offenses and can only be taken to civil court to have a judgement put against you and your credit raiting.

My advice......STOP BREAKING THE LAW *******!!!!!!

nonono...i wasn't trying to say you shouldn't have paid it. i was just saying that they are....or were beatable.

they've changed them a bit.....now rather than having a physical box, and a physical trigger inbedded in the road, i think it's all done by software. this is gonna make it much harder to catch them ******* with us. i still go through the yellow lights......if i'm close enough, i never make any attempts to slow or stop....if i'm not, or have doubts, i stop.

Don't pay them. They can't do anything to prove it was actually you driving.

Can anyone verify this? I mean, it is video evidence of you breaking the law.

Its the same as a parking ticket. They can't prove YOU parked in the handicap spot but they know your car did.

Once again, can anyone prove this? After all, if you dont go to court or pay your fine for parking in a handicap spot you get a lovely warrant issued for your arrest... whether you were driving or not, your vehicle your responsibility.

As a friend of mine says (he is Austin Police) "You may beat the rap but you aren't beating the ride."

I tend to sit on the side where I pay the ticket and avoid the ride.

I would like to see a warrant issued on a parking ticket. I've seen it in the movies but not in my experience.

back in 85, i had to have my grandmother come down to the police station to get me out. i got pulled over, 'cause the cop said i ran a light(it was yellow). when he ran my tag, it came back with an unpaid parking ticket in haddonfield. they had to take me down to the station. she had to come down, and bring me bail money....which coincidentally was the same as the ticket with its fees.

I dont know how long ago they started this but, I went yesterday to try to get registration on my truck and they told me I had a red light ticket and couldnt get my registration till it was paid, it has to be something they started recently because I had a couple red light tickets last year and was able to do it... sucks!

Per Texas law, no, they cannot do anything to you, no warrant can be made, and they can request to prevent registration of your vehicle, but you are crazy if you think Texas does not want their money for registration.

This.

Plus, companies are getting more aggressive in background checks for hiring (Facebook etc). The last thing I want is to not get a dream job or a job I really need because I didn't pay a stupid red light ticket that was under $100.

i know damn well i stop at every red light. the video showed me in the turning lane approaching the turn while the light was green, then the light changed to yellow as i entered the turn and then instantly red immediately after it turned yellow. something doesnt jive with that.
