Default Bringing Florida Car to Texas

I'm currently planning a trip to Florida to purchase a Pontiac G8 GT.
Since Florida owners according to the seller are required to keep their plates I'm seeking advice on proper transport back.

I will be driving the car back to Houston and started looking at these temp plates. Im not too sure which is the correct one and if they will cause any issues within the states i will be crossing.

The fact Florida doesn't require emission testing may make me a target on the road after leaving the state. Any experiences on the subject to avoid delay on my trip and/or fines?

Thanks
Maxx

I've used those temporary plates before for bringing cars back to TX from out of state. No issues. You have to show proof of insurance to get the plate though.

Yeah the temp tag is fine to drive home on. Other states will leave you alone.

Insure the car. Get the temp plate. Fly out, drive home. Get car inspected and ask for "green sheet". Take inspection sheet, bill of sale, a check and the title to the tax office in Texas, and title/register it.

Maxx, I recently purchased an 01 SS from up in MD..... Went to DMV with copy of insurance and they issued a 30 day temp tag... They will give it to you on the spot. cost me $30....

My advise... don't drive the G8 like you do your Vette....

Man Florida is amazing. You don't pay registration on the car. You pay for the plate. It's just a small fee to transfer the title into your name. He's right the plate does stay with the owner. Lived in Jax for years and loved every minute. No inspections and long flat roads

Maxx are you aware that you'll have to pay vehicle taxes in both Florida and Texas? Whatever you negotiate as a deal add 12%...
