My old 1978 trans am
My dad bought this car new in 78. Black and gold, but not a SE. It was my first car in high school 21 years ago. Car needs a lot of work still but finally got it painted. Door alignment is pretty off on both doors. I put all new hinges but still being a pain. A few pic's, I have a long road ahead of me. I do have some year one rims for it already.

Thats a sweet car! Thos long doors are trying sometimes. Take your time and walk away from it if you have to. You will get it...
I have a 78 gold bird I bought in 92. The motor threw a rod and it was sitting when I found it. I've had it stored since then. I never had a chance since I moved out of state. I guess it will be my retirement project.
What are your plans for it? Keep us posted on the progress.

Cool, I like the old gold birds. My car will just be a cruiser. I have a 455 that is going in it (old school). Car will be put back original black on black with gold bird and trans am decals. Going to lower the car and do a few other small things.

My first car was a 75 TA. Buccaneer red, 455 but was an automatic so someone put the 455 in. The 455 was only available with the 4 speed manual. Wish I still had it. The rings did not last too long with nitrous and eventually the motor had no compression and would hardly run.
But, I was 16 so it was only 15 years ago. Evidently you guys are older than dirt. Lol

Nice. My dad is the original owner of his 78 TA and has just started slowly restoring his. He just needs body and paint and a few minor interior things. Who painted it if you don't mind me asking?

My neighbor had a 57 Chevy painted recently and he recommended the guy to me. He use to own a body shop, but does side jobs every now and again at his house (He has a shop with a paint booth). He lives in Kenefick Texas.

I grew up in Deer Park in the early 90s and also had a 78 Trans Am I drove to high school. I owned it 8 years. I had it running 12.teens my senior year (95') .. Eventually got it running 11.90s with a 400 before I sold it. I wish I still had it.
Glad to see you held on to yours. Hopefully you'll keep it poncho powered. Sub'd for your progress.

Lol, sad part is, I think my generation was the last to do anything that was dangerous and still normal. Riding bikes without helmets, doing crazy things that kids just did, to and from school bus stops in elementary alone.
Now kids are so shielded for any danger, they are probably going to be afraid of everything.

I am happy to say though that most of the parents I know, friends of mine or just families I know in my neighborhood still actually make their kids go outside to play, not just sit inside in front of the tv/pc/xbox all day. If I ever have kids you can be sure as **** it'll be the same story for them.
Congrats on getting a start on the bird OP, one of these days I'm probably gonna wind up buying back my old 78 nova that was the first car I ever bought. Sold it to a friend years ago and it's still just sitting at his dad's shop...

Thanks man! I like the 72 Camaro's. I actually just pulled all the gauges to have them calibrated and restored (New faces) as well as the gauge bezel refinished.

At 27 I was on the tail end of the "danger zone" (I figure you old folks will catch that reference, lol)
