Ticket On Christmas Morning!!!
Hello to all
Hopefully everyone had a good Christmas.
Mine was going great until about 10:30 a.m. when I crossed paths with a very scrooge of a police officer. I was doing 80 in a 60 mph zone. Guy was actually on an overpass hiding behind an exit sign. What a deal. Maybe he was having a bad day.
Any advice on handling this matter would be appreciated. It was in Dallas County I am 30 and I have a VERY Clean driving record. Last ticket was 2 years back and it was dismissed. Should I go through one of those ticket lawyers or should I pay the fine and do defensive driving?

If it was in the city of Dallas I would take it to cout. 8 out of 10 times the cops don't even show up, and if they tell them that you want to take defensive driving and they will let you.. That way you can try to get out of the ticket with out paying anything and if you have to pay by taking defensive driving it still doesn't go on your record..

I guess it depends on what happens to your insurance rates? They typically go up significantly for three years or so, plus the cost of the ticket. Overall, it might be worth it to get a good lawyer ( I know an oxymoron!) and see if he can get reduced. Did he get you on radar? If so, did he show you the reading? When was his radar last calibrated? Is the officer licensed to run radar? Were there other cars around you possibly going as fast or faster? If so, how does he know he got the right car??
