Car still running hot after 160stat install? Dan or Nick, any ideas?
temp is up and down... fans are working.... it cools down as fast as it hits 260F..... what is the deal here????

it is running over 250 degrees.... i dont think the stat was the prob! you can also manipulate the fans by turning the heater on or ac on..... no need to reprogram unless you dont want to turn the ac/heater on to kick the fans on at 185 on... 170 off..... iirc...
so any ideas? waterpump is workin... atleast my idle has not changed... oil runs lower than what i recall.... it drops under 40 on the gauge unless at vacuum or on the gas. what else could it be...
and yeah... I have coolant!

mine was doing the same thing i wire the fans so there pretty much on all the time change the stat to 160 and i found out the fancy chrome radiator cap i bought at auto zone was a crap so i bought another one and now is runing super cool

-First let it cool, then loosen the passanger side coolant passage (the leftside on the coolant tube that runs inbetween the heads.) open the coolant cap (pressure cap not overflow) add Coolant 50/50 while the passenger side passage is open, add coolant untill you only see coolant come out of the passage, not air...when this is done tighten and reinstall radiator cap...start car and wait..

hopefully it is just air in the line... I attempted to locate a bleeder valve last night... can someone post a pic of were it it located??? or is unconnecting the hose the only way??

They do not have a bleeder valve..And if you are refering to the top hose that will no work in this situation. I dont think....Pic is comming of the best bleeding spot..

I had a bad temp sensor in my 99 ws6 that drove me nuts.
I figured you would have the notorious water slosh sound in the dash if an air pocket was present. Just my .02
If that doesn't work, take off the radiator cap and look inside the radiator why it's running and see if you see air bubbles (head gasket).
