Why does LimeWire keep killing my connection?

Why does LimeWire keep killing my connection? Everything runs fine while I'm browsing the internet and even have multiple browsers up, but when I open LimeWire, it kills my connection. The signal strength is still there (using wireless), but the speed drops down to 1.0 mbps. I end up having to reset the modem and router by unplugging the power and reconnecting. Once I do that, everything is back to normal.

First get limewire PRO...no ads.
Second, you have to limit your bandwidth in limewire configuration.
If you have a cable connection, limit it to 10 or 15Kb.
Go to TOOLS>Options>Uploads and move the slider to the left until it reads 10Kb for your upload cap.

you will thank us later, however there is a bit of a learning curve, especially setting up some of the clients.
it might be a little harder to find single songs, depending on which sites you use, but full cds are everywhere.
