Good Year makes the best tires on the planet..... thats neither here-nor-there in what happened. Parts fail, thats the price we all pay to play the game. God bless Eric and the Medlen family.

Hate to hear stories like this but it serves to reinforce the fact that this is a dangerous sport and can happen to any of us at any time, we all need to be very mindfull of the danger when racing. My thoughts and prayers go out to Eric, the Medlen family and friends.

The tires had everything to do with it, and if you look back over the past two seasons look at the number of blowouts they have had. This is not just a "parts fail" thing. Good Year is ****, NASCAR is complaining about them, the NHRA has been on them for three years now to do something to better the tires.

So people are expecting Good Year to make a tire to handle 330+mph in 4.6 seconds and it be 100% fail proof? Get real people. Consider the number of passes made in the pro classes over the last 10 years. And think of how many have resulted in blown tires. It is a sport of risks, anyone who straps in and gets it on assums that risk on his/her own. Blaming Good Year or any other manufacturer is insane imo. Good Year totally changed the tire they offer to the NHRA fuel classes last year or the year before at the request of NHRA per their specs.

i cant see blaming the tire as rational, like stated above its 330mph in under 5 seconds, thats some brutal ****, is there even another tire that has seen those speeds? and track tested vigourously the way these have over the years? godbless medlen and his fam.
