guy says it has 160k miles, no rebuild, auto, with tranny upgrade from a shop near him. Paint looks great.
He said it does not leak or smoke. I'm sending someone to look at it for me this weekend since I am still up here in Chicago. My question is should I gamble on something like that or stick with my plan. Which is an auto 2000-2002 z or ss. Problem is I can't find too many under 10k that really catch my attention.

If you are looking for a thirdgen then you might consider it. But if you want an LS1 just wait till you find the right deal, those cars are turds compared to an LS1. The way the market is you should be able to find a nice for the price you are looking for, you just gotta keep you eyes peeled. Good luck on your pruchase

yeah dude, you shouldn't have a problem finding a 2000 ls1 for that price. I got an almost perfect fully loaded 2002 Z28 m6 with 60k miles for $14,000, so I don't think you will have a problem. Just keep your eyes peeled. There was a 2000 black WS6 M6 for sale really close to me a month ago with 90k for $10,000. Check chron.com, maybe it's still for sale. Search eBay, autotrader, cars.com, this site, chron.com, & some of the other boards like ls1.com
