My lab has a tick in his neck, what to do?
Before I take him to the vet I was wondering if there is anything I can do for him. It is about an inch and a half to the right side of his back, in the center length wise of his neck. I poured vinegar on the area and tried to pluck it, but this little booger is in their kinda deep.
Any suggestions??

Tweezer that bastard out, then just rub some of that stuff you can put on cuts if you are really paranoid. But make sure, like said above, to not miss the head of the tick, hence why the tweezers are a good way to do it.

Going to a vet over a tick? What do you do for fleas?
Just grab said tick and pull in the opposite direction that it is in. Then make sure to kill the damn tick afterward. I wouldn't worry about leaving the head in. Dogs get over stuff like that. They have a very nice immune system. If you're really worried about it pour iodine or something on the wound.
I lived in NE OK where ticks are common. This is how I did it with both dogs I had. They never had just one tick at a time either. Those buggers are everywhere up there. Actually, this is how I removed ticks from me too. I was always hiking, camping, hunting or fishing so I'm very used to them.
I've tried burning the things and all else and the only thing that would happen is the tick's legs would wiggle or you'd kill it and it would stay stuck in. Leaches are where burning or pouring something on them works. Once the tick is in, it isn't going to just back out until it is finished feeding. They look like a small grape at that point

new to dogs? i've seen serveral right ways to take care of it here...
-Clear fingernail polish, cover the entire area. probably an inch?
-Alcohol is a great way, can't stand it and they pop out or just die.
-be a man and just pull it out, head pops off, then just poor alcohol.
There is a number of ways, i usually just use tweezers and rubbing alcohol.
lol at the fleas... theire immune systems are amazing, eat dead fish and a number of other thnigs and be fine. only thing is with ticks they carry lime disease i think it is right? most likely no problem, but always a slight chance. but like you said, VERY STRONG immune system.
