Default looking to purchase a truck any preferences?

ive came to a point in my life where my car is no longer a priority and will be putting it for sale soon. so im looking into a truck. more than likely a 1 or 2 year old truck. chevy, ford or even dodge. i know we have owners of all 3 brands so what would you guys recommend. it will be a 1/2 ton gas truck with at least an extended cab and of course a V8. thanks!

How much are you willing to spend? What are your main goals/uses for the truck?

At the moment probably 20k with an obvious down payment. It will be my daily driver that i use for school and work. Thats honestly it. Not looking to mod it besides wheels and exhaust. Maybe haul a friends car from time to time.

are you going to pay it off or trade it in in a year or two? The reason i ask is a dodge serves the purpose and the resale on them isnt the best...so u could catch a good deal on one....however chevy does have the power. If you go with a dodge get a hemi...i got he 4.7 and regret it every day!

I like the last body style better than the current one....if you want some nice room the crew cabs are great, and if you can find one with the premium cloth & captains chairs in the front, they are friggin super comfy. That's what I have in my 3500, but the seats should be the same in for all the crew cabs.

For an occassional car haul, just get a 1500, if you think you will haul regularly, get a 2500.....with the 1500, make sure the trailer has trailer brakes to be safe....especially if you get a single cab, light trucks suck for pulling & trailer & car that are heavier than the truck pulling it.

I haul my mustang with my 4.7 1500 and it hauls it pretty well. The brakes on these 06 models are pretty beefy. They wont touch a 2500's for sure but for a 1/2 ton they do rather well. My mustang weighs 2650 without driver and the trailer is a steel unit with a wood floor and no trailer brakes. However the new cloth interioer on the 06's SUCK! I wouldnt put them on my lawnmower....get leather at all costs!

Any 03-06 body style will not dissapoint you. Might as well go with the 5.3L ext. cab.

Yep, my bud Gary just picked up a 99 Lightening, very nice truck....I've seen newer ones selling for around 12k-ish give or take a few grand.....not much different than having a car though if you wanted more passenger space.

It's a truck, yes it can tow. You probably wouldn't want to tow heavy loads for long distances since it's a blower truck, but it would pull much easier with the added power & stop better since I would imagine it has upgrade brakes. You may just need to put some airbags or some type of tow leaf to keep it from getting too low since it's already lowered. Gary pulled a trailer just fine with his...hell it came with a hitch already on it.
