Default Welding an LS1 block

Hi, I'm trying to find out what is needed to weld the aluminum on an LS1 block (type of welding rods) or what type of aluminum the block is made of.
Thanks
J

The block is 319-T5 Aluminum and I would imagine you would need a decent welder to weld since it is pretty thick. <----(may be wrong im not a pro welder or anything) but I know my Mig will only weld up to 1/4" thick plate. Here is a website that will give you most of the material info you may be curious about http://www.smokemup.com/tech/ls1.php. Hope this helps maybe someone can chime in about the welder and wire/rod you would require to weld it.

Check out www.weldingweb.com
There are many welders/fabricators over there and are very knowledgable. I am sure someone will have a detailed answer in regards to your question.
