What could I get for my vette?
I have a red 98 convertible in very nice condition. It isn't mint, but looks new. It sounds good, but isn't loud. It has z06 titaniam exhaust. Also has a new (5k miles) ls6 w/heads & cam + other supporting mods to bring it to 410rwhp. Car has 61k miles, but motor and trans are pretty new. The trans is an flp lvl 4 & has a yank stall. It runs low 11's & has z06 rims. Any ideas of what I could get out of it?

Like he said - mod money spent on a car is money gone. Since what you did isn't exactly what the buyer probably wants - it doesn't help and sometimes hurts (or make it more difficult to sell). Sad but true. Good luck.

ok thanks for your input guys! I can understand it going for 15k to someone who doesn't want mods, but for someone who wants a fast car, I'd have to think that would put some sort of a premium on it. No way would I expect to pay the same for a stock car vs. a modified car.

Just remember that most guys will be suspicious of a modded car. Youre just not as confident as when youve done it yourself and know what it has. Buyer must, in a way, take your word for it. Most guys would rather buy a stocker for less and have peace of mind by doing it themselves. I know if sell my car I have to look at it as a regular C5 regardless of mods. Sucks but thats the game, and Ive spent a very pretty penny on mine. Still, good luck and hope you get as much as you can...while being fair.

FYI...I have had my modded 02 Trans Am WS6 on Autotrader & Ebay multiple times in the last 12 months, and have gotten no offers over $12k. I have tried to trade it in (and like the replys above, the dealers don't want modded cars) & the highest offer from a dealer is $8k (that is what they can buy them from Manheim Auction for). Good luck with your sell...you never know when you run into the right buyer.

In this economy people seem to expect something for nothing even worse then before, it will be interesting to see when you sell it what you are able to get for such a well put together car.

Well, thats because its a buyers market. If you won't budge on your price or price it reasonable people will just move on as there is plenty out there and plenty of people willing to deal in times like these.

Right now has got to be the worst used car market. If you want to sell you are better off cutting your losses and selling it now. Since its a 98 the value is dropping slightly every month. Say you cna get $15k now, next year at this time you probably would get something like $14k.
I witnessed this with my car. I thought it was worth at least $16k and over a year ago i was offered $13,500. I turned it down, then i ended up selling it 3 months ago for $12,750 and i only got that much because the buyer was stupid.
