97 vette value?
been a while since ive been on here but im just gettin into the market for a vette. Found a 97 with 125k very clean runs and drives awesome auto, removable roof etc. I think its gonna take around 10k to get in it, sound like a decent price? im a lot more familiar with fbody prices so just wanted some opinions.

Without more info, it seems you are in the right price area for a'private party' sale. The bottom line is the 125,000 miles and how well the engine was maintained. it would really stink to buy the car at $10,000 and then have to put serious $$ into it, because it would be money that you never could get back if you needed to sell in a hurry. Also you didn't mention how many owners or the title situation, Carfax, etc.. which all can influence pricing as well. I don't know if I am pricing a one owner, highway miles, well maintained car or a 5 owner example in which the last owner was a teenager who terrorized his neighborhood for the past 10,000 miles. I know which car I would pay $10,000 for and one I wouldn't even bother with for $5,000.

97s go for less than other C5s. I think $9k should be able to get that car. There is a 1999 Silver Vette M6 in my area with 89k and clean title. The guy is asking $11,300. I'm positive I could pull that car for $10k. Unless that 97 is exactly what you want, wait another month. As winter approaches, you can probably get a newer car with less mileage for a similar price. Always remember that pulling a stack of $100 bills goes a long way when negotiating in person. Good luck.
