Nitto 315's or Sumitomo 315's
I have the chance to pick up some Nitto 555R 315's for my ZR1's for 250 new with stickers still on them. My friend has a new set on his ZR1's with the same offset as mine and my worn out Sumitomos' are at least a full inch wider. From Tire Rack, I can get 2 Sumitomos' for about $274 shipped. I know Nitto's run a little slimmer, but is it worth it to pick these up? How do you guys like them on the street?

I'd get the Nittos. I had them and loved them. I'm on my 3rd set right now. I had some 275's, that lasted roughly 10-12k, and would've gone longer, if I didn't put so much air in them, and wore out the centers faster. I had my 315's on for around 4-5k, and they still looked almost brand new when I sold the wheels and tires. And now, my 335's still look brand new after about 2k on them. Not to mention, they hook a hell of a lot better than junk Sumitumos. Also, my 315 Nittos didn't look any skinnier than my buddy's 315 Sumi's on his '04 GT.

nittos. and the 555Rs run slimmer in OVERALL width. they are designed to be soft so there is no sidewall to prevent flex. look at any regular tire and you will notice it curves out, providing an extra 1/2-1 inch of width. but measure the actual tread width, and the Nitto will be just as wide

I have the Sumos on both my T/A in 17" and my daily driver F-150 in 22", why does it matter if your going to burn the tires which tires you get, your still going to burn them so why not get the cheaper tire. The majority of these guys already told you they go thru tires like water. If the title of the question WAS: "which tire grips better" than that is a different story. TONS of people on this forum and other forums run the sumos and love them, its like everything thing else, some like them, some hate them, in this time of tight cash, its up to you.
