Shout out for the new Nitto 555R radials
Just got these on to replace my insanely expensive Goodyear GSD3's and havent really had a chance to try them out till today....
It's about 65 degree's here in texas tonight and my car has NEVER hooked first since the cam install...
Well tonight, from a 15 roll it HOOKED, felt insane since ive never been in a car that fast in first gear, ive ALWAYS just spun....this was without any kind of burnout...
It almost dead hooked the shift to 2nd but broke out a little....
Still im VERY impressed with this tire for about HALF what i was paying for the goodyears
EDIT: These are the Nitto 555 Extreme ZR's

These are not drag radials but nitto's new street radial, out of a drag radial i would expect that kind of traction, out of a street tire i was very impressed....
i dont run drag radials anymore because i cant afford to rebuy tires every year

^ i couldnt either if i was buying those goodyears lol
The drag radials were the ones i was burning through in 1 year, but for the same price as the drag radial nittos these street nitto 555 Extreme ZR's last 3 times as long....of course they dont hook like a drag radial would but hook damn fine for a street tire

im running 275/40R17 on my 97 Z
its a great street tire. smooth on high speed, it can be a bit loud on those city streets but an over all great performance tire for the price.
mine doesnt hook from the launch, but does stick rolling. it hangs on pretty tight with the car shifting into 2nd gear. satisfied

I'm confused here, are you talking about the 555 or the 555R? You keep saying they aren't drag radials but 555R's are in fact drag radials (although not a very aggressive DR). The plain 555 is an actual street tire. As someone mentioned there is also a 555R II.

What's new about them? Is there a recent version that they came out with?
How so? They are smooth and quiet on the highway, do great in the rain and last about 20k miles on the street? How is that any different than most other high performance summer street tires?
You are talking about the nt555r II correct. It has a treadwear rating of 100, its hardly a street tire.

OK guys to clear up the miscommunication im looking at the ones i have for the front and they are the
Nitto 555 Extreme ZR's
they have a treadlife of 300 and are indeed a street tire.
I am putting down around 418 with the new duals
Sorry for the confusion, but the tire is bad ***!
They were new atleast to discount as they are just now able to sell them, couldnt find them on their website but found them here:

So your telling us that your hooking on nt555 street tires? And making about 420wheel? I'm sorry to tell you man, but your clutch must be slipping or something because I don't see how that's possible.
And the title is a bit misleading, there's nothing new about that tire. Lol.

^x2, I only have bolt ons and weight reduction, and with 275/40zr17 555's I could cruise in 2nd and hit the throttle and go sideways...
