Default Fikse Care and Maintenance

I just got my Fikse mounted and I have a couple questions for other owners. I have Adams metal polishes on the way to keep the hoops nice and shiney. The faces on my FM10s are techni-polish. Is there any cleaners I should use on them or just soap and water? MF rags ok to use for polish or cleaning? Thanks in advance..

The techni-polish centers are clear coated over. Just wash them and take care of them like you would the paint on the car. The raw polished outer rim will be more difficult to keep nice.

Ya well I have had good luck with the Adams metal polish so Im not too worried about the hoops other than it will be harder to keep clean. I guess ill stick with soap and water for the faces then. Thanks!

Oh, and FWIW I just use soap and water on my classics, and dry them with an "absorb" shammy. Works great.

I don't wash mine,
I just keep them under the bed wrapped in clear plastic.

LOL, welcome to the Fikse club...let them cool down and just use soap and water

I like mf towels because they do not scratch. To clean between the spokes I use the foam paint rollers that are about 1.5" in diameter. Wash with mild soap and water, the same that you use on your paint is good. DO NOT USE WHEEL CLEANER, EVEN IF IT SAYS SAFE FOR ALL WHEELS. Sorry about the all caps but I feel very strongly about this. You can wax your wheels while they are clean. This will make future washings easier. Some racers use non stick cooking spray on the inner rim to keep brake dust and rubber chunks from sticking. Spray on a cloth and apply with the cloth, do not spray directly on the wheel.

I don't drive my car enough to get my Fikse's dirty. But when I do, I clean them with a mild soap and water detergent then polish the outer wheel w/ wenol.

I really like Adams Metal polish. Best I have used so far. You get an amazing shine with minimal effort. I was more or less asking for tips when I wash my car.

I've never tried Adam's, but the Mothers brand is pretty good for the price.

You can get Adams #1 and #2 polishes for $20 I think. A little goes a long way and it shines like no other ive used..
