Default nitto 555r or toyo proxes tq?

out of these 2 drag radials, which has better dd ability and grip on the street? Id get them in either 255-50-16 (toyos) or 245-50-16 (nittos). the car is a streetcar but id like to go to the track a few times next year just to see what the car will do.

I read both will last in the 10k mile range which is fine and arent too bad in the rain.

I know mts are better than both so theres no need to say anything about them.

thanks.

IMO Nittos 555r are better tires than the Toyos, better performance on street and pretty good on rain. They also have good grip!

Loved my Nitto's on the street, even in rain...as for track performance they stink...

Dang now nittos are better than the TQ? I would consider the TQ over nittos. But I don't like how small the nittos are...

Hopefully somebody whose running the TQ will chime in.

I've ran both, and can definitely say the Toyo's were better in every way! The griped much better than the Nitto, lasted almost as long, and worked just as good in the rain. With that in mind I can't see any real advantage to going with the Nitto after having had both now

Last time I heard, Nitto owns Toyo and the Toyo TQ's were actually the same tread compound as the 555r's?

I thought toyo owned nitto? That's what I was told by a guy at town fair tire. Iv been searching and looking on other forums for this comparison and a lot of people are saying the tq is an all around better tire than the 555r.

Nittos are a great tire, I have droven trucks and a few cars with them and they handle good. I just dont like them for track use, I preffer M/Ts on track use. I cant say Toyos arent good but I like the feel of driving on Nittos for street use.

have you tried the toyos yet? i just feel like with the toyos being wider they might be better. either one will be an improvement over the crappy street tires i have.

my ss3600 makes my tires completely useless

Ran multiple sets of nittos and they did good for my needs...Until i tried the Toyo TQ, does everything the nitto does only better. At the track i dropped a full tenth over the nitto and the toyo i use is the 275/40/17 vs the nitto 315/35/17. I daily drive my car, around 250-300 miles a week and it has been raining non stop here almost all of december, even being 30 degrees out i havent had any issues. Ill be sticking with the TQ's from here on out.

Exaclty, i went with 275 on the toyo's and they are just about as wide as the 315 nitto was and actually 1/4" taller, not to mention a couple lbs lighter.

Toyo all the way.. I've had both. Nittos on my h/c LS1 that wouldnt hook and Toyo TQ's on my h/c LS7 that ALWAYS hooks no problem.

Good point on the width difference! The Nitto 555R has to be one of the narrowest out there...especially in the 315's, and the Toyo TQ looks like a true 315 lol

So the toyos 275 is beefy? That's why I didn't want nittos cuz they look small.. And the toyos are safe to drive in the rain?

Well lets just say that I noticed no real difference between the 2 in the rain at all! The Nitto seems to run small in every size, but especially in the 315. The Toyo looks to be normal...maybe even slightly wider than most in several sizes that I have seen
