Ruff Racing r280, need opinions.
I'm thinking of buying these for my '02 Trans Am. All four wheels are the same it seems on this website. Is that a problem because it seems everyone has a different size on the rear? Is there any cons to this? /complete noob

Depends what your goal is really. People I think run wider on the rear simply because you can't run as wide on the front. Plus fatter rear tyres tend to look cool and should offer more off the line traction in the dry.
Downsides are you can't rotate the wheels. And you need to match up the tyre diameter front/rear or else it can look silly.
For me I also didn't want to alter the handling balance too much or run the risk of inducing too much understeer.

Going by that logic, it seems like going with the same all around will be much more simple. Another question. I noticed it says they're 225. Is that going to end up looking super skinny? I don't want to end up with pizza cutters.

Personally I wouldn't go for that narrow on these cars.
I'm running 265/35R18 on 18x9.5 all round with an ET32 offset. This pushes them right out to the edge of the arches. An ET38 would probably have been slightly better though.

Anything under a 265 width seems crazy, these are listed with a 235 wide tire. I would look elsewhere as I would want to run a 265 or 275 width up front and then at least a 275 in the back (295/315 looks best).
So yes, they will look like Pizza cutters.

Could I simply order them sans tires & have a larger size tire mounted locally? The website says 225 is recommended for this wheel but is it required or can I mount something bigger?

WRONG. You can run 315/35/17s on 17x11s and 295/35/18 on 18X10.5s on all four corners with no modification to the front and the usual BFH and possible fender rolling in the back.

Are these the same wheel? I can only see that they say 18.5 & nothing else that matches. They look identical just cheaper. However, it states that it isn't compatible with a 2002 Trans Am.

Well I won't say this it's possible. Hence the word "think" in my earlier reply. That said, the stickies at the top of this forum don't seem to agree. And I suspect that if you can fit them, then it must affect steering lock and maybe rub?

There are several members on here running either 17X11 or 18X10.5 on all four corners with no rubbing or steering lock problems. The proper offset is what makes this possible.

Thanks everyone for your help. I went a head and went with the wheels from the website without any tires. I'll just have them mounted locally with 255s or something of that nature.

So theoretically I could safely mount 245s on all four and simply use spacers on the rear to bump it out as bit. Will spacers effect anything long term? Will it look weird from the rear?
Sorry for so many questions...

use the tire calculator on 1010tires.com , just enter your stock tire size 245/50/16 or 275/40/17 will work then select your new tire size. If you have no idea what to run it might take some guess work. but thats what I used to give you 255/40/18. Yes you can run 245/xx/18s

Holy ****, I would definitely go with at least 245. That's the smaller size that f-bodies came with (275 on WS6 and SS models). If you put 225 on a 8.5 inch wheel it's gonna look hullaflush. My DD Pontiac G6 has 225s on a 7in wheel and that's the perfect size for them.
Use a tire calculator as well, as someone already mentioned. You don't want to screw up your speedo unless you're gonna have it corrected. Too crazy of a size difference and you can end up causing your ABS to freak out and be inoperable.

Will 275s safely mount onto an 18x8.5? And with the use of a spacer will it look alright in the rear, ie. not tucked in too much. And with a spacer is there long-term effects. This is a daily driver.

Here they are as a "Staggered" package. I am sure you could contact them and even request that they give you four of the 9.5" wheels instead of 2+2.
