Will I have to use open end Lug nuts for 2.5 inch studs

Will I have to use open end Lug nuts for 2.5 inch studs Just wondering I havent installed them yet, but with the lug screwed down on the stud there seems to be less than a inch of thread left so just wondering if thats enouph space when you add the rim and the rotor into play. just wondering if I will need to use open end lugs.
