Default Looking to buy darkstar wheels.. What size

I'm looking to buy 15x3.75 / 15x10 darkstar wheels for a 98 Camaro. What offset should I get when I go to buy these?

Then, I keep hearing about "direct drill", spacers, and special lugs, anyone have any links handy of exactly what I need to purchase?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I run the Dark Stars. 15x10 with a 7.25 BS. That is the only BS you can get with the Dark Star 15x10's. Some places advertise them as 7.5 BS, but if you check with Race Star, they don't make a 7.5 BS. With that said, the 7.25 BS fits perfectly. I have the Direct Drill Dark Stars. They came with the centering ring and all the hardware needed to install. All the vendors will provide everything needed to install the wheels. As far as the BS you'll need with the 15x3.75, no idea. If I were you, I'd look at running a 17" front wheel so you don't run into brake clearance issues.

Thanks for the reply! I'll have to look more Into the 17" front to avoid the clearance issues. Mind me asking where you bought your wheels from?

A place called "Modify My Stang". JP is who I dealt with. When I checked, they had the lowest prices around.

The 15 for the front should fit with no issue. I would run a M/T 8 ply sportman tire up front for the weight of your car, They drive great like stock. I'm a dealer. If you do 17's up front, which do look cool the overall price for wheels and tires will go up vs 15's.

OP if I were you, I'd stick with the 15s for a few reasons. One, and this is personal, they look better. After seeing a lot of 17/15 setups, they just tend not to look right side by side with a 15/15 setup. The wheels also weigh more, and why put on the added weight when you are going for weight savings by running a lightweight drag wheel? Two, there are no clearance issues with the front. The rear you may have clearance issues with the fins on the caliper, but other than that they usually fit pretty well. Four, tires are more expensive and not as plentiful, especially for skinnies.

I'd run a bias ply skinny up front, the 8 ply MT as specified for our cars since they are heavier. I'd run this over a radial because you can always run a bias ply rear in the future if you so choose, they are lighter, and I've heard multiple problems of the radial skinnies just sucking from the factory as far as wear/alignment (friend is having the issue right now). I've got probably 2500 on my bias ply skinnies and they look barely worn.

As a last tip, get rid of the Racestar lugs and run McGuards. The stock lugs rust very quickly and are pretty shitty overall. The McGuards are a great upgrade and not too expensive for the quality.

For reference, my car on 15/15...

Both 15 and 17" fronts look good, but I still prefer the 17" fronts.

I pinged Nick for tire sizes. I think the 17's up front and 15's in back look better than 15/15.

Do you sell the same back space for the 17x7 for 4th & 5th gens ?

If so how much clearance from the spokes and barrel do you have on your 5th gen ?

Since I can't pm you, can you pm me a quote for
Darkstar 17x7 and both 17x9.5 and 15x10
Also looking for some Forgestars

john@motorsports-media.com

I think the only way we'll know if 17x7's work on a 4th gen is to trial fit some.

FWIW the 17x7s will not fit on a 2010-2015 ZL1.

That's a buddy of mine. He has the same tires I have on my dark stars. 185/55/17 M&H race masters.

That is one side of the coin. I for 1 love the look of 17" fronts. There are also some benefits to a 17" front. First and foremost, if you plan to run radials, you can't cheap out and buy those crappy pep boys tires and run the risk of one blowing out and losing control. Currently there are 3 options for 17" radials and 2 for bias ply so you're really not limited. Another benefit is you have less sidewall and thus you have a stiffer tire which will help with street driving and going around corners. The 17" offer much better driver feed back.

+1. I personally blew out a cheapo 15" skinny tire 10 years ago, the sidewall just went kaboom. After that I only got the right tires.

I started a gallery of Race Star pics along with wheel sizes mostly just to showcase different GM applications. Still adding as I go:
