Default Staggared Wheels Sizes and ABS

Hi

Any idea if running staggared wheels sizes (corvette wheels for example) is a problem for the ABS brakes on my Camaro?

Thanks JA.

I don't believe so when your tires are the overall same diameter. For instance with Z06 wheels you need to run 275/40/17's in the front and 295/35/18's in the rear. I've run that and had no problems.

Now I run ZR1's. 275/40/17's in the front and 315/35/17 in the rear. Just make sure your overall diameters are the same. I know regular C5 sizes like 245/45/17 and 265's or something in the rear will not work.

Hi
I was looking at a set of 98 Corvette factory wheels. I believe they are 17 x 8.5 (with P245/45ZR17) and 18 x 9.5 (P275/40ZR18). I checked the Goodyear web site and there is almost 1" difference in diameter. I do not want to go over 275 on the rear so it would mean replacing the front tires. This makes them much less attractive.

Thanks JA

Yes there is exactly 1" difference because a 245/45/17 is the same diamter as a 275/40/17, but you'd be running 18's. I'm pretty sure that's a no go chief.

what about a lower profile in the back like 275/35 or 30/18? I'm sure you could probably find something that works.

You might be able to go with a 275/35/18. You always have to compensate whether it be the height or the width when you run a staggered set-up of course.

I'm actually running the same tire and rim combination all around. 17x9.5 z06s with 275/40/17 so that I can rotate them whenever the backs wear down. No problems at all. Honestly my ABS kicked in more with my stock 16's than it did with my z06s
