Default Does anyone make an 18" DR?

Why can I not find these? I know MT and others makes a 275/40/17 and if that works, why wouldnt an 18? The side wall would be the same height correct? a 40 series tire with the same width should be the same sidewall height no matter what size rim. Just the overall tire height would be taller.

Am I totally screwed up on this or not?

Are the BFG's any good? How do they compare to MT and Nitto's?

Nitto's and BFG Make Drag radials in 18's. Go to discounttiredirect and search by brand rather than size. You will find a bunch.

Looks like $4 cheaper a piece I wouldnt call that a big savings. Discount tire direct has free shipping, last time I checked tirerack didn't have free shipping. Add the $20+/tire for shipping and Discounttiredirect Wins . I always use Discounttiredirect.com they have great prices, service and free shipping. I would reccomend them over tirerack any day.

Thanks for all the input.

I have Michelin Pilot Sports right now. How much more traction will I get with a DR in the same size? I know a DR has MUCH more traction normally, but with this tire size there is just no sidewall to work with.

I can get the Pilot Sports in a 40 series tire (instead of a 35), would that help my traction at all? Or just go DR's and be done with it?

Has anyone run the BFG's and the Nitto DR's and compared them both?

I have michilin Pilot Sports as well and they are the worst tire for traction I have had yet. Drag radials will Hook better than about any regular radial, they just have a shorter life typically. If you go with a 40 series 18 rather than a 35 series it will effect you speedometer as you overall tire diameter will be a bit bigger. It will end up being like steppping down a gear slightly (It would almost be like going from a 3.42 to a 3.38 if there was such a gear) since the wheel/tire will end up being about an inch higher.

Check out this link for the effects of Tire sizes/gears http://www.f-body.org/gears/

Same here. Once I was in desperate need of tires and ordered just a pair from tirerack. A week later instead of tires I found out that they canceled my order because they don't think it's safe for me to only buy 2, I must buy 4 so they all match. My car would be too dangerous to drive and they can't let me do that. They're self proclaimed experts over there. Some sales guy is going to tell me what I should do with my car and what tires my car needs.

WTF?

They weren't drag radials were they, and they wanted you to put them up front?
