high speeds and tire repair?
i got a bolt in my tire, between the treads so hopefully between the bands. i figured going over 130 on a plug is bad so should i have it patched or is that about the same? what should i do?

a plug is supposed to be a temporary fix. after plugging a bunch of tires working at a GM dealership, i'll always get mine patched now.
i wouldn't go 130+ on a tire that has been patched or plugged, the tire probably won't fail, but if it does you're dead.

I would not be comfortable traveling at high speeds with a patched, or worse a plugged tire. Generally tire manufacturers have rules or recommendations when a tire is repaired. For instance, when a Goodyear tire is patched once, it drops one speed rating. Goodyear I believe allows for a maximum of three punctures/patches before they recommend that the tire be replaced. Every tire manufacturer has their own unique recommendations though. For instance, I believe Michelin tires can be patched once without a drop in speed rating, however, more than that and the speed rating falls. I'm not sure of the specifics of these recommendations, but these were the things that a very experienced friend of mine at a tire store told me when I had a tire patched (soon to be replaced).
