Default Twheel... future of wheels/tires

It was featured on the future of cars on the discovery channel tonight. (Abeit it has been around since 95.)

Just don't know if I could get use to seeing this on my car.

Comments???

I don't think that is what the tire will look like. That is probably a cut away view of what the inside of the tire would be made up of. The tire will most likely look like a normal tire.

I'll stick to regular tire if that is what they are gonna look like.

No... that is not a cut-away. That is the tire!!!!!! OMG!!! It was running around on the program as seen.

The wheel(twheel) is a metal wheel with flexable outsection attached. The tire itself is only the tread section. The idea is that the tread section would be the only thing that gets replace.

You would never have a flat; unlike run-flats the tire doesn't use air. And since the only thing being replaced is the tread, there would be considerable less waste

Altough the idea might seem like a good one, I think the real problem they will have here is in public acceptance becasue it still looks like crap!!!!

I wonder what kind of traction you'd get with those? Probably not much I'd guess.

it would probably rip apart if you did a burn out..... or maybe it may act like a wrinkle wall

Yea, I was thinking it'd wrinkle if the tires were soft/sticky enough.

I think it would wrinkle, those rubber like spokes seem to be very soft. The car on the program had a lot of tire bounce. Seemed to be very complaint with the road surface.

As for expense, it would be very expenseive to start with, but if it ever became a mainstay products, it might not be. After all the only part you would be replaceing is the tread!!!!

I still think the worst problem is it look like crap!!!

You won't have to worry about those pesky spike stips when running from the police now
