Question Chrome 16" ZR1s, Questions.

My neighbor has a 95' TA with 12,000 original miles on it and says they came factory on his TA. They're Chrome 16"x8" I think, they look like new. He's wanting to sell them cause he bought a new set of 18" ZR1s... What is a fair price to offer him? I think he'll take just about whatever I offer but I don't want to lowball the guy too much. I'm thinking of getting them and painting them silver or black or a combo. They strike me cause tires are a bit cheaper than 17s or 18s. Do ya'll think they'll look good on a Metallic Green 95' Z28? If so what color and such, or leave em' chrome?

Let me know.

Also they have a set of Cobra's??? on them, Is that a shitty tire?

16" ZR1s??? I didn't know there was such a thing, and I doubt they came from the factory on a T/A..

The only chrome factory 16" wheels that came on a T/A would be like the ones I had on my old T/A..

They are 5 star wheels, but not ZR1's...

So I can't tell you a good price to offer being I don't even know what wheel it is exactly, but I can tell you that I think Chrome would look best on your green car. I am a chrome fan though, never been a big fan of black wheels..

But to each their own.

I have seen 16" ZR1s before, but have never heard of 18" ZR1s? Or does he mean 18" Z06's?

Id say they would be worth anywhere from 350-450 if they are in good shape. Id leave them chrome and put them on. If you don't like them like that, black spokes with a chrome lip would also look good.

They are 16", the tires on them are 245/50/16... Also I measured them. But for the prices I'm looking at 17's for 395.... And I can get factory take-offs from GM for 400 a set for tires and wheels (new).... He's getting ZO6 wheels, he said the wrong name. And they are infact ZR1 rims, same exact style with vette centers... No Doubt. I'm kinda excited cause you never see this size wheel in this style.

He does have a dash plate inside the car with a 335 hp sig. And a couple other small things that make it unique I've never seen before... The car is either fairly rare of he's done a nice job making it a factory SE or something.

So would it be a bad Idea to get these, I think it might defeat the purpose of buying wheels if I stick to a 16" rim...

Are the mods in your sig serious?

All that high dollar stuff and you want to buy 16" ZR1s?

Custom machined headers?
Custom bore and stroke?
And absolutely no details at all.

You can't be serious

JEGs has replica ZR1 wheels in the 16X8 size, but that's not a factory size! some of the LS1 formulas and Zs with the 5 spoke 16x8 wheels look similar to the ZR1s... but putting 17s in the rear, you might get away with it... esp. powder-coating them black

My dad has built performance engines for over 30 years, My bore and stroke work was done by Red's Machine and Assembly in Tyler, TX. He took my Intake and fully polished it inside and did some minor porting, built my heads nearly from scratch and used 378lb springs and fully balanced the engine to handle frequent trips into 7k rpm range and capable of low 8k without problems. My dad has a weird *** fear of headers after an incident with our 66' Mustang so he insists on modified exhaust manifolds. He took my factory exhaust manifolds and used what looked like a roto-rooter and knocked out every single bump and flaw and polished them to a fairly high gloss all the way through. followed up by a custom y-pipe built by the exhaust shop here in Henderson, TX... American Muffler if I remember right.... and the car had a 4" exhaust kit on it when we got it. Yeah we did use a flowmaster because it's "old school"... something my dad grew up with...

The engine wasn't built to be some monster horsepower making powerplant. We built it to be as reliable as possible while putting out significantly more power than your average LT1...

My dad has built Custom Racing Trannys for about 25 years I would guess, he's well known around here for his 2speed powerglide builds but has built many many others. I will say that all his trannys shift different than any other I've ever felt. They shift super super quick instead of really hard. He takes part the valve assembly and ports certain areas and changes out the ball valves and such to create a nice operating system. He usually takes any plastic bullshit out and has metal replacements machined to replace them... Mine has taken 90k miles of abuse and still feels good as news and can get 2nd and 3rd gear scratches without much effort.

The car was a complete sleeper until an incident about a year ago and I had to replace my hood and I couldn't afford a factory replacement at the time so I Gave $75 for a junky 4" cowl hood and spent about 2 weeks perfecting it. Its about the only exterior mod I have so now I'm looking for wheels. Nothing flashy as hell but something with a factory style...

PM if ya'll want any details about the car.

I still get about 25+/- on the hwy and 18 or so in the city

The power curves seem a little odd on the charts and peak a strange times. That's why I'm trying to find someone locally that can Tune instead of just doing a dyno run...

I'm still trying to find another factory hood but I've yet to find one locally and all aftermarket hoods are rediculous. If I can find a hood I'm taking the old salad shooter rims and repainting them (: lol

And I live in the fricken BoonDocks and really don't want to tear up a set of 18" rims in potholes that are a foot deep
