Noob question on 315's?
Okay so i plan on swapping my wheels out for TT2's and getting them staggered with 17x9.5 and 17x11 but wtf is this 315's i see everyone talk about? what dimension does that stand for?
17 is the diameter of rim... 9.5/11 is width of wheel..
What is the 315 part?

If was to go from 9.5 to 11 in the back doesn't tire size alrdy adjust to 315? or is that even more extra?
If not what does the tire size change to I go to 11
(When I say automatically, i mean i have to swap to a bigger size tire)

315 = tread width
35 = sidewall height
17 = wheel diameter
From the STICKY at the top of this section:

On a 17 x 11 wheel, you can run a 315/35-17 tire.
17 = 17 inch diameter of the wheel
11 = 11 inch width of the wheel
315 = 315 mm tread width of the tire
35 = 35% aspect ratio of tire*
17 = 17 inch tire mounting surface for a 17 inch wheel.
*The aspect ratio is the ratio of tire sidewall height to tread width.
On a 315/35-17 tire, the thread is 315mm wide and the sidewall of the tire is 35% as tall as the tread is wide - or 315mm * 0.35 = 110.25mm.

wow.....that was a newb question. but at least you asked to get real info rather then just slapping things on. just an FYI: the wheel width, ie: 11 inches, does not automatically dictate the one and only tire width you can run.....ie: 315. there are other sizes that may/can fit, although the 315 fits best and is easiest to find. check the stickie, there should be a list of what are the minimum and maximun tire widths you can run on a given rim width.
another FYI: just because you can run a different size tire on a rim, doesnt meant that size is actually made by anyone. you can run a 285, maybe up to 295 on a 9.5 rim, but there are very, very little to NO tires available in that size.
