Camaro Owner Catches Dealership Mechanic on Speedy Joyride

Burger-loving mechanic was so shocked after being confronted that he quickly fled the drive-thru sans his fast food.

Let’s face it, it’s every car owner’s worst nightmare when someone flagrantly oversteps their boundaries and treats foreign property as their own. This video by ABC News depicts such a nightmare.

The vehicle in question is a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Special Edition, and the joyrider is reportedly a mechanic working at a Chevy shop in Southern California. The car’s owner, Mari Agredano-Quirino, and her husband headed to a nearby fast food joint to grab a quick bite after dropping off the Camaro for routine service. All of the sudden, when the couple was stopped at a red light, Mari noticed a red blur on the street that looked all too familiar.

The couple abandoned their lunch plans and decided to give chase to what they thought might be their Chevy Camaro. Once the Indy Pace Car pulled into a nearby burger joint, they were able to confirm their terrible suspicion. It was her car!

In a story originally posted to Facebook, Agredano-Quirino describes the moment they confronted the mechanic.

“Finally, a few blocks down, we see him pulling into the drive-thru of a burger restaurant,” she writes. “As we approached the car, we realized it was, in fact, our car… I told him, ‘What the f$&@ are you doing with my car?’ He couldn’t even hear me because he was playing the music so loud with the windows down. As he lowered the music, he said, ‘This is not your car.’ I told him that it was and that I had just taken it to the dealer to get serviced. He then said, ‘I’m just taking it for a test drive.’ I asked him if the test drive included going to get food in my car. He then said, ‘Stop, you’re making me nervous.’ And he began to go in reverse attempting back up out of the drive through.

 

‘I told him, “What the f$&@ are you doing with my car?” He couldn’t even hear me because he was playing the music so loud with the windows down.’

 

“Mind you, he had already ordered his food and was just waiting to drive up to the window to pick it up,” Agredano-Quirino continues. “As he backed up, he scratches the rims on the concrete. I yelled at him to stop but all he did was put it back in drive and exit the drive-thru. He didn’t even get his food!”

“So, we immediately drove back to the dealer and asked to speak to a manager,” she adds. “Sure enough, they tell us that the service manager was out that day and the service dispatcher would assist us. As we explained the situation all he could do was apologize. He then went to go call the general manager. This guy comes into the office smirking and giggling as if it were a joke. I told him that it wasn’t f–ing funny. That it was a serious situation. Again, all he could do was apologize.”

Despite the couple getting the run-around when they arrived back at the dealership, the franchise owner eventually released a public apology.
