Design Studio Renders a Cadillac Supercar

Every car brand today is enlarging, diversifying and updating at a faster pace than ever before including our own Cadillac, check this future midship rocket.

Cadillac has had a few sporty cars in the past like the XLR, CTS-V and now the ATS-V but never ever a sports car with a rear mid-mounted engine. This ‘Cien’ concept is direct competition to other rear to mid-engine proven race track performance machines like Acura’s NSX, Audi’s R8 and the forever young Porsche 911 Turbo in the $100K region.

GM Authority (GMA) has teamed up with RMCarDesign (RMCD) to bring us computer generated renderings of what they think the Caddy supercar could look like in the next decade (or sooner hopefully!!). GMA and RMCD have taken design cues from Caddy and competitive modern styling languages. It includes rad bits like the jeweled DRLs, teardrop LED headlight clusters and a side-positioned mid-engine intakes. Also mentionable is how RMCD included a Ferrari-esque rear windscreen which displays the engine and adds aero. Fashion and function are executed marvelously.

GMAutority says Cadillac has more mass volume models on deck for release before their bespoke limited number supercar. To be exact, GMA states they have approximately four new trucks lined up, another entry-level model lesser than the ATS.  And finally, the ultra-flagship reaching beyond the CT6’s goodies for the max in American luxury. Hopefully we see some exciting powertrain introductions including zippy hybrid systems before this supercar releases so the bugs are worked out. This may be a sophisticated quality stab at a sports car and not just playing around with the Corvette chassis as the XLR was. Tell us; where you think Cadillac should take their powertrain technology? Hybrid, forced-induction or a blend?
