Hot off the presses from our friends at GM High-Tech Performance Magazine: Lingenfelter dynos and track tests one of the first Gen-V 5.3L L83 V8 engines with seriously stout results. On the dyno, using 93-octane fuel with 9% ethanol it put down 307hp at 5200rpm and 332 lb-ft of torque at 4200rpm on LPE’s Dynojet 248 through the factory 6L80E transmission. But with a blend of pump and E85, those numbers jumped to 321hp and 355 lb-ft of torque! Now that’s impressive!
With the pump gas in the tank, the 5,340-pound truck sprinted to 60 in 7.5 seconds on a way to a quarter mile of 15.94 at 90.7mph. With the blended E85, which the ECU apparently measured out to 65% ethanol, moved those numbers down to 6.96-seconds for the 0-60 mark and the 1/4-mile time fell to 15.51 at 93.5mph. Seriously, if a stock 5.3 is putting down these kinda numbers, we can only imagine what the LT1 will throw down in the C7. Here’s to the good times ahead!
