Five Hot LS Rides from Mecum Orlando 2021

1962 Corvette

Among all the lots that crossed Mecum Auction’s big red carpet in Orlando, more than a few came with LS power, including our five hot picks.

The LS Summer is only heating up as we get ready to cross home plate to the cooler days and longer nights of fall. Until then, it’s all about the big V8s rumbling down Main Street, putting down E.T.s on the quarter-mile, and setting personal bests on the track.

Of course, it’s also the right time to jump into an LS-powered ride of your own. We recently checked out the lots at Mecum Auctions’ red-carpet bash in Orlando, which was set for July 28 through 31, and these five we found kick all the tires and light all the fires.

1966 Chevrolet Nova

No. 5: ’66 Nova

Though it looks like your typical street rod cruiser, this ’66 Nova was built to corner as a pro-tourer. And to make good on that promise, power comes from an LS1 linked to a 4L60E with a 3.73 Positrac to funnel those ponies to the back. It even as a National Street Rod Association safety inspection sticker, proving this Nova is more than capable of protecting you on those canyon roads.

2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS

No. 4: 2004 Monte Carlo SS

Shout-out to the only LS to move the front wheels, the LS4 found in the Monte Carlo SS, Impala SS, Grand Prix GXP, and Buick LaCrosse Super. While more than a few LS4s have been placed behind the cabin in some wild engine swaps, this black Monte Carlo SS still has its big V8, ready to race anyone off the line or through the chicane.
