LA Autoshow 2013: Z/28 Camaro and ZL1 Convertible in the Flesh

Not a lot of people have gotten to check out the Camaro Z/28, and I suspect that’ll be the case in the future too. The car is not exactly a common item. Chevy wisely brought one out to display at the LA Auto Show, so i’m bringing it to you.

Unfortunately, a small glass fence kept us from getting any photos of the interior. That said, you don’t really need to see what it looks like inside to get a sense of this thing’s presence. It is definitely more race car than it is sports car. Actually, it reminds me of the 911 GT3. They’re both cars that are designed to be blisteringly fast around a track more than they’re designed to be streetable. A street car wouldn’t have a diving board front lip like the Z/28 does.

I guess that’s where the ZL1 would come in. Obviously it’s not going to be the faster car around a track, but not by much. In exchange you get more power and all the creature comforts of a regular Camaro. You know, things like a working radio and satellite navigation and adjustable suspension. It’s pretty pricey at $60,155… But come on. ZL1 performance with no roof? That’s priceless.
