When Yenko began modifying Camaros in the late 60s, there was one special version that everyone wanted, the COPO. Standing for Central Office Production Order, Yenko’s dealership went straight to Chevy and ordered the biggest and baddest engines the company could make and sold customers purpose built drag cars. That lineage continues to this day with this, the 4th generation COPO Camaro.

The new car is set for just 69 units total and can be chosen to run either a 327, 350, 396, or 427 V8, with a further two options using either the 327 or 350 with a 2.9L Whipple supercharger.

Each car has been certified by the NHRA with a full roll cage, safety harness, and a solid rear axle. And did I mention wheelie bars?

The COPO is perhaps one of the nuttiest Camaro runs ever to be produced and this new generation is definitely shaping up to be the nuttiest of all.

One of the craziest parts of this whole story is how the customers will be “selected.” You won’t be able to just ring up your local dealership and say you want one. You will first have to register and then an independent 3rd party will select those lucky few to purchase the car.
