Craigslist Porsche 944 with 350 under the hood is ready for new owner to take things to the next level.

Everything’s better with a Chevy engine swap, when you think about it. Mustangs, Supras, BRZs, BMWs, even old Corvettes and other Chevys. Whatever flavor of LS or LT you choose, the recipient of the swap will experience a magic it had never known before.

Such is the case with this 1983 Porsche 944 up for sale on Craigslist in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, located on the Pennsylvania-New Jersey border along the Delaware River. Instead of the old 2.5-liter inline-four, this “one mean Porsche 944” now has a small-block 350.

According to the seller, the rebuilt 350 “eliminated the biggest issue with a porsche in general. The outrageous engine rebuild/maintenance costs.” The 350 has around 350 horses, which link up with the rear wheels through the stock transaxle. Wilwood brakes help bring this Teutonic terror to a stop, and there’s $2,000 worth of Texas Performance Concepts bits to help make the swap possible.

Inside, Speedhut gauges help keep an eye on the magic happening under the custom hood, while everything else looks fairly decent for their age. You’ll be able to stay warm in winter, but you’ll be sweating it up during the summer months due to a lack of air conditioning. The windows do work, though, so a good breeze down the highway should suffice.

With $15,000 worth of work performed upon this Porsche 944, the seller says this car “is just begging to drift, drag, autocross, or just be a cool weekend car! Or…slap a supercharger, or a big turbo on it, and make it a serious race car.” It will need some more work to clear inspections, and it will need a beefier transaxle to handle hard launches with drag slicks. For $8,000 or “a nice crew cab” under 100,000 miles with no rust or other problems, though, this Porsche 944 350 swap could be the ride of a lifetime.
